“Amanda has worked in many different capacities in our district over the past two decades and she has excelled every time,” Uintah School District Superintendent Dr. Rick Woodford said. “She is the definition of success when we talk about ‘growing our own.’”

The superintendent described Brown as “a servant leader.”

“She is thoughtful, empathetic, builds relationships, leads with quiet confidence, and finds solutions that take everyone’s position into consideration,” Woodford said. “She has demonstrated a commitment to doing what is best for kids and staff.”

Brown will succeed Principal Christy Nerdin, who is moving to the district office on July 1 as the director of secondary education.

“I want to continue what Christy started by empowering excellence and embracing growth,” Brown said. “At Uintah High, we will continue to inspire students to reach their full individual potential. I am excited about this new leadership opportunity with the best staff, students, and administrative team in the district.”

Brown holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary and early childhood education from Utah State University and a master’s degree in education leadership from Western Governors University. She also earned a reading endorsement from Southern Utah University.

Brown has worked for the Uintah School District since 2002, when she began as a paraprofessional working with special education students. She worked as a computer specialist at Naples Elementary for one year before becoming a kindergarten teacher at the school in 2008. After 11 years in the classroom, Brown became an instructional coach in the district. She held that job until 2021 when she has hired as an assistant principal at UHS.

The Uintah School Board must formally vote to approve Brown’s hiring before it becomes official. The vote is expected to take place during the board’s business meeting on May 8.
