Weekly District Update - Oct. 30, 2020
We’ve received several questions about the district’s
COVID-19 Dashboard and want to address those.
The dashboard is updated each Monday through Friday at 2 p.m. with information provided by the TriCounty Health Department.
If an individual contracts COVID-19 from an in-school exposure, their case is added to the dashboard. If an individual contracts COVID-19 through a non-school exposure, they are only included on the dashboard if they were in school or working in a district building while symptomatic or asymptomatic and contagious.
A confirmed case is added to the dashboard on the date the district is notified of the case. This is not necessarily the date the individual tested positive or entered quarantine. This means some individuals will complete their quarantine before their case is moved from one column to another on the district’s dashboard, so some cases may be counted as "in the past 14 days" even after an individual has returned to school or work.
The district is monitoring all COVID-19 related data daily and has been in frequent collaboration with TriCounty Health officials. “The district is committed to keeping our schools open contingent on the safety of district students and staff and the feasibility of operations,” Superintendent Woodford said.
At present, about 75 individuals are quarantined district-wide due to contact with a positive case in a school setting. Another 130 individuals are quarantined district-wide due to contact with a positive case outside of school. These numbers change hourly as new positive cases are reported in our community.
Please remember, only district employees and parents/guardians of students who have prolonged, close contact with a positive case in a school setting will be notified directly by the school about the positive case.
The first trimester ends on Nov. 19. Parents/guardians who want their student to transfer from Uintah Online to a "brick-and-mortar" school for second trimester need to contact both Uintah Online and the school they want their student to transfer to by Friday, Nov. 6, to discuss their student's transfer options.
The 93rd National FFA Convention & Expo was held virtually this week and Uintah FFA was well represented. "We had one national finalist in what are called Proficiency Awards," Uintah FFA advisor David Wilson said. "Alexanndria Veibell was a national finalist, one of the top four in the nation, in the Diversified Horticulture Placement Area."

The district is still accepting applications for the K-12 Broadband Grant it received from the state of Utah. The grant seeks to provide broadband internet access for students enrolled in district programs who do not otherwise have broadband internet at home or do not have adequate broadband internet speeds at home.
The application can be submitted online at
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/VRBRBLR.
Paper copies of the application are also available in school offices and at the district office. Paper applications should be returned to the school or district office once completed.
The district’s Technology Department will review completed applications and forward eligible applicants to STRATA Networks. STRATA will contact eligible applicants within 5 working days.
