The Uintah FFA chapter excelled bringing home a state championship in Nursery/Landscaping and placing in three other events. The Nursery/Landscape team placed first with team members Isabel Owens, Lillian Strasburg, Sidney Anderson, and Spencer Foley. Isabel and Spencer placed first and second high individuals in the entire contest.

On Wednesday, the Uintah School District announced Uintah Middle School science teacher Jason Pierce as its Teacher of the Year and Naples Elementary librarian/media specialist Elisabeth Balch as its Classified Employee of the Year.

First responders from Daggett, Duchesne and Uintah counties will participate in full-scale emergency drill tomorrow, April 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The drill will simulate a crash between a school bus and a tractor-trailer truck. It will take place on US-191 north of Vernal near Cart Creek between mile markers 378-381. The district is providing a decommissioned school bus for the drill. Again, this is a simulated crash. No one will be injured. Emergency managers are asking people to avoid the area during the drill.
